Age verification & sale limits

FoolProof checks age and enforces sale hours and volume limits at the moment a sale happens — so doing it right is automatic, not something a cashier has to remember on a busy Friday.

The idea: the rules for where you operate are configured when your store is set up. From then on, the register enforces them for you. A sale that would break a rule is stopped before it can be written — not flagged for review after the money changes hands.

Age check at the register

When a sale includes alcohol, FoolProof prompts for age verification. The cashier confirms the customer is of legal age against a valid ID.

Ring up the sale as normal — scan or search items into the cart.
At checkout, FoolProof surfaces the age check for the alcohol on the order.
The cashier verifies the ID and confirms. The confirmation is recorded with the sale and the cashier who made it.

Why it's logged: if there's ever a question, the record shows the check was done, when, and by whom. That trail is the point — see Audit Logs.

Refusals — recording a "no"

Turning a sale away is part of the job, and FoolProof lets you log a refusal so it's on the record. A documented pattern of refusing underage or intoxicated buyers is exactly what protects the store and its license.

Sale hours, in your time zone

Alcohol sale windows are evaluated in your store's local time, and a window that crosses midnight is handled correctly rather than cutting off at the wrong hour. Outside permitted hours, the sale is blocked at the register. You don't watch the clock — the system does.

Volume limits that follow the customer

Where your jurisdiction caps how much one person can buy in a period, FoolProof enforces the cap against the customer, not just an account. Someone who has hit a daily limit has hit it — a second email address doesn't reset it. The order is refused before it can be written.
